The personal, portable cutlery set that comes with its own dishwasher.
The portable, personal cutlery set that comes with its own cleaning tool.
Eating with flimsy, disposable plastic cutlery isn’t much fun for you—or the planet. In fact, plastic utensils are some of the most common bits of trash littering the world’s beaches, and among the biggest threats to the delicate ecosystems found in oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams.
And while Cliffset isn’t the only eco-friendly cutlery out there, just try getting dried-up guacamole off your bamboo fork without access to water, soap, and a brush.
Cliffset is different. It fits your on-the-go lifestyle with anywhere-clean eating in a compact yet durable case.
Clean freaks, rejoice!
Our custom-contoured scraping tool works like it’s made for our cutlery—because it is. The ridges fit right between Cliffset’s fork tines to scrape off every last bit of uneaten food, while the straight and curved edges are perfect matches for Cliffset’s knife and spoon.
The cleaning tool doubles as a sprayer to be refilled with your favorite no-rinse cleaning solutions. We love using pure lemon extract, a food-safe, no-rinse solution that’s perfect for on-the-go cleaning. Its ingredients: alcohol, water, and lemon oil- that’s it. While we aren’t yet including it in our initial orders, pure lemon extract can be affordably purchased from most grocery stores.
Let’s review.
Want to see it in action?
Does the cleaning tool stay clean itself? Yup. We ruled out brushes, bristles, and textured scrubbing surfaces as they tend to entrap food particles.
Rather than the typical camping centric cutlery set, Cliffset is designed for everyday settings such as fast-casual restaurants, food trucks, and picnics where napkins are accessible.
Best practice, the cleaning tool serves as a rigid edge underneath your napkin to scrape that last bit of dried up food (which will form during engaging lunch conversations).
The tool houses a refillable sprayer for a final spritz of household, alcohol-based, no-rinse cleaning solutions (more on that below). Cliffset thus stays clean and ready for your next meal and adventure.
Infinitely reusable.
Made from food-grade 18/8 stainless steel with powder-coated handles, Cliffset can stand up to anything from dishwashers to petrified hummus. Durable. Sustainable. Portable. And exceptionally tasteful.
In case you forget to “Scrape – Spray – Sparkle,” Cliffset utensils are dishwasher-safe. You can even throw the case in the washing machine with your laundry.
Get lunch. Get clean. Get moving.
Living a fast-paced life doesn’t have to mean settling for disposables. With Cliffset, you can eat well and travel light.
Express yourself.
Our powder-coated stainless-steel handles come in a variety of colors, including no color at all. They’re elegant, ergonomically designed, and really, really ridiculously good-looking. Talk about the perfect dinner companion.

Put it in your pocket.
Or your bag, car, or desk—without getting teriyaki sauce on everything else you own. With its custom compression-molded case, Cliffset can go anywhere, including the laundry. So you can eat. Clean. And carry on.
How do we measure up?
Quite well, thank you. Cliffset was engineered by an award-winning team. Forks, knives, and spoons are ergonomically designed for a comfortable hand-feel, full bites, and easy eating. The cutlery is compact, but sturdy enough for the heartiest of meals. And it all fits neatly into its custom case alongside the cleaning and scraping tool, where it stays clean and ready until your next meal.
Fill ’er up.
Pure lemon extract is a fantastic no-rinse/no-waste cleaner that’s affordable and available at most grocery stores. It lifts grease and evaporates quickly, leaving no residue.
With just three ingredients: ~80% alcohol, water, and lemon oil—pure lemon extract is a simple, effective, and food-safe solution for on-the-go cleaning. Plus, it smells great and is natural enough to eat with wet utensils.
We recycled an old idea.
Traveling with one’s own cutlery is far from a new idea. People have been doing it for centuries—well before the first plastic spork was invented. Yet today, even given what we know about how plastic trash affects the planet and every creature on it, and even with a myriad of portable, reusable cutlery options out there, carrying one’s personal cutlery around just hasn’t quite taken off.
We wanted to find out why, so we did a little market research. 50% of our respondents told us that their cutlery was inconvenient to clean on the go, while 75% sheepishly admitted that they simply forget to bring it along. Plus, there’s a perception that disposable utensils are cleaner than reusable ones.
Oh hello, cutlery that comes with its own cleaning tool inside a custom case that’s easy to take wherever you go. Nice to see you in our purses and backpacks and glove boxes, staying all clean and shiny and ready for wherever life takes us. You wanna go out to dinner sometime?
Stainless steel crushes the competition.
Of course, there are other eco-friendly cutlery sets out there—like bamboo, which clings to guacamole like an unrequited high-school crush. Or edible cutlery, which is not nearly as delicious as it sounds. Or compostable cutlery. (Good luck finding a communal compost bin at your subway station, or remote parking lot, or even outside a restaurant.)
Stainless steel is sustainable, reusable, and can even be recycled when you’re done with it. (Which will probably happen like never, since stainless steel is also exceptionally durable.)
Our goal? Zero waste.

Who do we think we are?
I’m Cameron Drake, and before Cliffset, I learned a lot about the importance of sustainable, reusable, recyclable products that reduce waste. Partly because I lived on a boat—where I saw piles of plastic debris floating on the ocean—and partly because when I was on land, I got pretty tired of using plastic forks.
In fact, I’m all about food and sustainability. At UC Berkeley, I wrote my thesis on the food packaging revolution that created this mess in the first place. I’m also a founding partner of San Francisco-based Good Use Juice, which makes delicious cold-pressed juices from surplus, misshapen, or oddly sized produce that would otherwise go to waste.
